Despite a letter from the the Conception Bay South council earlier this suggesting the contrary, CBS Mayor Woody French says that the town will not lose its current public library. Concerns sprung when it was revealed that the new town hall being constructed would not include space for the public library; original plans did include a library, as well as arts space and a small gym. French said there’s no money now for those items in the $14 million budget to build a new town hall. But French did assure library-goers that this decision will not affect the current library – saying the letter the local library board received was either misinterpreted or poorly written. He said the current library will stay open until money is found to replace it.
