“I’d just jumped into bed and was told I had to be at the airport by 5:30 or 6:00, so it makes for a long night,” said Jason Jaffray to the Globe and Mail on Sunday after the Jets practised. Jaffray was fresh off of a hat trick for the St. John’s IceCaps on Saturday night, and has been called up to help the struggling NHL parent team. “But life could be worse, for sure.” The Globe says that the Winnipeg Jets are turning to their farm team here in Newfoundland in an effort to find some kind of spark to end a prolonged losing skid… and even suggest maybe bringing up the whole team. The Jets have a 5-9-3 record while the IceCaps are 10-2-3.
