Grenfell Campus unveils giant composter

MUN’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook unveiled the province’s first industrial composter yesterday to great fanfare, reports The Western Star. The project is a partnership of the Multi Materials Stewardship Board, Grenfell Campus, and College of the North Atlantic; waste from the two educational institutions will be fed into the machine, diverting about 20 per cent of their total waste from the local landfill. The compost produced by the machine will be used in Grenfell’s community and ornamental gardens. A 20% waste reduction? How long until the Avalon has its own composting system set up again?
