A Statistics Canada report is saying that prices in Newfoundland and Labrador rose 4.1 per cent in the past 12 months — the largest increase among the provinces. The overall inflation rate for the country was 2.9%, a number that matched the expectations of economists. Overall prices rose in all eight major components it tracks and in every province; the CBC reports that the inflation rate has been above the Bank of Canada’s two per cent target for more than a year now.
