VIDEO: The 709 Derby Girls

Newfoundland’s first & only roller derby league

The 709 Derby Girls are Newfoundland’s first & only roller derby league. Founded by Terri Jane Maxwell in 2009, the burgeoning league are now bursting onto the national derby scene. With their first full bouting season under their belts, the girls have already competed with out of province leagues, and even saw a member win silver with Team Canada at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup. The girls will return to the flat track in February 2012.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 before the end of the year to solidify our plans for 2023. We need your support to keep producing this progressive, explanatory, and unique local journalism.
