Autopsies to be performed on couple found dead in Cox’s Cove

Police say autopsies will be performed on an elderly couple found dead in their home in Cox’s Cove on the Western side of the province. An 83-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife were found by family members on Tuesday. Sgt. Boyd Merrill says the chief medical examiner has taken a lead role in the case since the causes of death are unknown. Merrill says the autopsies will be done today or later this week. Police have not released the names of the couple. Merrill says that while police are saying little about the case at this point, there is no concern for the safety of the public.
