CBS says it can’t afford a public library

The CBC is reporting that Conception Bay South’s plans for a new $20-million town hall will not include a public library. The town library board says it has been promised a new library for more than 20 years to replace the small cluttered building the library is now in – but now it seems the town is closing the old library building as the new hall goes up. CBS Mayor Woodrow French said the town council is hoping the Newfoundland and Labrador government will come up with money for a library. CBS is the largest town in the province.
