MP Judy Foote is sounding the alarm that leaked documents say that the movement of the Search and Rescue sub-centre resources from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia is going to cost the coast guard money instead of saving it. VOCM is reporting that the document shows that the Coast Guard is responsible for the cost of transitioning the services to Halifax and Trenton, and that transfer cost cannot be transferred to the DND or another Federal department. Foote says the consolidation shouldn’t cost money, and the cost shouldn’t be the responsibility of Coast Guard.
