A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in St. John’s has been arrested, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. Phillip Wayne Pynn had been identified originally as a “person of interest” in the RNC’s investigation of a fatal shooting in the east end of St. John’s Saturday night – a shooting which the CBC reports was the results of an armed robbery gone bad, and one that resulted in the death of 20 year old Nick Winsor. He is now expected to be charged with second degree murder. Pynn is well known to police;iIn September 2008, he went on the run from drug and assault charges and evaded police for two weeks. At that time, police considered Pynn to be dangerous. Pynn has a previously scheduled court date this Wednesday for a charge on damaging property at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary in May 2011. Pynn was released from jail only two weeks ago on $2,000 bail.
