The NunatuKavut Community Council, who are trying to put a stop to public hearings on the Lower Churchill project, aren’t encouraging members to attend the hearings. President Chris Montague says the group will not recognize the procedures. They are heading to Supreme Court next week with their attempts to halt them. The panel reviewing the proposed hydroelectric project at Muskrat Falls makes its first stop in Happy Valley-Goose Bay today. The hearings aim to give the public a chance to hear about the potential impacts of the project and an opportunity to share their concerns. The sessions will span 45 days and the first one will take place at Hotel North Two at 7 p.m. tonight. For more on yesterday’s media briefing with the NunatuKavut Community Council, see Indy coverage.
