No free parking on Monday

After the confusion over parking tickets issued on Jan. 3 this year in our capital city (which was debated for being the New Year’s Day holiday people take), it’s worth noting that there will be NO free parking on Monday in St. John’s. Even though St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday observed by some businesses and institutions — no matter the case by case scenarios — it is not a ‘shop-closing holiday’ under the Provincial Shop Closing Act. So stock up on loonies and quarters for meter-feeding if you plan on parking in downtown St. John’s or other metered areas on Monday.
