With a blast from the noonday gun on Signal Hill 6:40 this morning, the 193rd St. John’s Regatta is a go. However the race schedule has already been thrown out so to speak, as a collision took place earlier this morning between two boats rounding the buoy. Crews were thrown in the water and one individual was rescued by the Regatta officials. One boat has been damaged and cannot be used for the rest of the day which has thrown the scheduling committee through a loop. Regatta committee members have called the collision “unprecedented”.
