Figures released by Stats Canada last week showed that violent crime was up 29 percent in the capital city of our province, but the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the statistics don’t show the whole picture. RNC Chief Bob Johnston cautions that the information in the report needs to be closely analyzed. He says both the number and severity of crimes push the figures up. A homicide, for example, would raise the numbers more than causing a disturbance.
