The Town of Conception Bay South announced Wednesday that the Kraft Hockeyville 2011 NHL pre-season game between the Ottawa Senators and the Winnipeg Jets on Sept. 26 will be moved to the Mile One Centre in St. John’s. Organizers did not want to use all of the $100,000 award to simply upgrade the Robert French Memorial Stadium in CBS specifically for the pre-season NHL game. Mayor Woodrow French said that the money will instead be used to upgrade the stadium in a manner that benefited the community in the long run. Another reason for the switch? Mile One can accommodate 10 times the fans.
