Lower Churchill hearings going ahead

The hearings on the proposed Lower Churchill hydro project are going ahead despite Labrador Metis filing an injunction yesterday. A spokesperson for an environmental assessment panel looking at the project said, “We will have to review what this is about and what it all means … We can also say that the hearing will proceed Thursday night in Goose Bay.” Members of NunatuKavut said the hearings must be stopped because they haven’t been consulted by Nalcor about the potential development. The hearings begin tomorrow and are expected to last 45 days.
