Maria tracking towards Newfoundland

Tropical Storm Maria now appears to be on a collision course with Newfoundland. According to Environment Canada, the eastern and southern areas of the Island will be dumped on by some heavy rains, which will begin early Friday morning and continue into Saturday. Amounts of 50 to 75 millimetres are predicted, with a possibility of 90 millimetres along the south coast. The systems will also bring strong south-easterly winds that will spread across most of eastern Newfoundland Friday.
