This afternoon (Friday) the 40th parliament will come to an abrupt halt. Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff will rise this morning and present a motion that will read: “That the House agree with the finding of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs that the government is in contempt of parliament, which is unprecedented in Canadian parliamentary history, and consequently, the House has lost confidence in the government.” Debate will ensue, and the vote will take place at about 3:00 N.L. time. And so will end Stephen Harper’s 2nd minority government, this one which lasted about two and a half years — virtually the same amount of time as his previous minority government. So, Newfoundlanders, expect your doors to be knocking soon with your favourite politicians on the other end with a smile. With the ABC campaign history, could there be a scent of change in the air?
