The Newfoundland and Labrador (N.L.) government is giving more than $90,000 to seven fire departments for new firefighting equipment. The funding, from the Provincial Firefighting Equipment Financial Assistance Program, will allow the departments to purchase new personal protective equipment – such as bunker suits, self-contained breathing apparatuses, helmets, and boots – as well as acquire hydraulic extraction equipment. Fire and Emergency Services – Newfoundland and Labrador is administering the funding. The departments that are receiving the funding are: Mary’s Harbour, Port au Choix, Main Brook, Jackson’s Arm, Burlington, La Scie, and Middle Arm.
