Police are investigating an alleged robbery at Charm Diamond Centre in the Village Mall in St. John’s. At approximately 6:15 p.m. last night, cops were called to the store. They were informed a lone male suspect had entered the store and smashed open one of the display cases with a rock. “He fled on foot with some quantity of jewelry. At this point we’re not entirely certain what was taken,” said RNC Const. Suzanne FitzGerald. Police dogs were called in, and investigators are reviewing video tape from surrounding stores. According to FitzGerald, police have determined no weapon was used and no threats were aimed at the employees. No one was harmed in the ordeal.
