The Independent’s print archives online

A portion of Newfoundland and Labrador’s modern media history has been preserved.

When The Independent resurfaced this Spring, one of our primary goals was to ensure that the paper’s past was part of the publication’s future. This morning we here at TheIndependent.ca have released the paper’s print archives online – free for the public to see.

Months of hard work was put in by the team to gather, process, and organize the digital archived files used originally to send the paper to print. These files were then transformed into an interactive medium with a technology called ISSUU – allowing all those interested to experience ‘reading a paper’ online in a whole new way.
