Families of Cougar Flight 491 victims calling on Transport Minister

The lone survivor and the families of Cougar Flight 491 victims want Transport Canada to explain why  Cougar’s helicopter was certified without a 30-minute run dry capability. They’re asking federal Transport Minister Chuck Strahl to investigate the certification of the Sikorsky S-92 and “take all necessary measures” to prevent another “senseless tragedy.” Lori Chynn, who’s husband died in the crash, said offshore workers deserve a helicopter that can stay in the air for at least 30 minutes without oil. “This helicopter doesn’t have the capability that’s needed … to transport workers offshore. It’s all about safety,” she said.
